Grevelingenmeer
The Grevelingenmeer (Lake) lies in-between the islands of Goeree-Overflakkee and Schouwen-Duiveland. It is the largest and clearest saltwater lake of South-Western Europe, and it is well-known as one of the most fantastic areas for diving. Anemones and sponges colour the underwater landscape with a myriad of exotic colours of orange and white. And amongst all of this beauty, shoals of different kinds of fish dart around. Lovers of water sports are in their element here, and it doesn’t matter whether you’re a beginner or are more experienced. Small and intimate beaches, islands, schools where you can learn to dive, surf or sail, all contribute towards making the Grevelingenmeer a most attractive area to visit. There are many possibilities to spend the night close to the water, in the various bungalow parks and camping sites. And there are numerous facilities around the lake, such as car parks, toilets and showers. If you prefer to be more independent, you can hire a boot from one of the many boat-hire facilities around the lake. And......if you want to go off with your own motorboat, there are trailer-slopes on the Grevelingen Dam, the Brouwers Dam and nearby Havenspringerdiep and Middelplaathaven which you can use.
