Northsea

Noordzee

The beaches of the Delta are the widest beaches in our country. During the summer months, they form the setting for a perfect holiday. But it’s not only the beach-lover who can enjoy the Noordzee to his or her heart’s content! The surf and the breakers are the domain of the water sports enthusiasts, who enjoy the challenge of rough water. The current and the wind are a challenge for the kayakers, wind-surfers and wave-surfers. And, for those who would rather be laying on the beach, they can enjoy the spectacle of watching those who battle against the elements!

It must be remembered that all lovers of water sports who want to brave the sea, must show respect for the water. The Noordzee is definitely not for beginners! And this applies equally to surfers, sailors, divers, canoers, fishermen, water-skiers and people who, with their motorboats, want to choose the deep-blue sea. Some of the water sports, like kite-surfing, can be done on beaches which are especially indicated for a certain sport. But even just taking a refreshing dive into the briny waters, still requires being extremely careful. There are a great number of places where you can have a fantastic swim, but always take the current(s) into consideration, and don’t go out too far. A lot of beaches use flags and symbols to indicate the extent of the wind, and the current. If you keep an eye on these (safety) measures, you can enjoy the breakers and the surf without a care in the world.
