On this cycle route the Westerschelde is almost always in view. You will see the huge ocean going ships on their way to Antwerp to load and unload containers etc. You also cycle through the characteristic polder landscape of Oost Zeeuws-Vlaanderen.
Nice to know:
The ferry service between Perkpolder and Kruiningen stopped in 2003 because of the opening of the Westerschelde tunnel.
The harbour of Perkpolder is a reminder of that time.
