The Staats-Spaanse Linies Cycle route carries you along the cultural historic defence lines of the eighty years war. To begin you cycle along the eastern side of the fortified town of Hulst. This unmarked cycle track is either sand or asphalt. Nice to know: The land of Hulst is also the land of Reynaert de Vos (Reynard the fox).The story was written at the end of the 12th century. The story tells the tale of the crafty fox Reynaert. With his cunning ways he upset the decent people of the time. At the Gentsepoort (Gent Gate) is a bronze statue of Reynaert de Vos.
