Borssele lies close to the Sloe. This is a large harbour and industrial area. Its location, next to the Kaloot a unique nature area, comes as a great surprise. The Kaloot beach is where ancient layers of soil come to the surface. At low tide it is a treasure trove for fossils. If luck is with you, mammoth teeth, sharks' teeth and all sorts of fossilized shells are all over the place. During the migration seasons, the Kaloot is a resting and feeding place for birds.
