On the southernmost tip of Zuid-Beveland, lie Ellewoutsdijk and its fort. The fort once controlled shipping on the Scheldt in wartime; nowadays, it is used for exhibitions, concerts, country fairs, etc. There’s a lookout on top of the fort. Watch the birds or enjoy the view onto the Westerschelde! The fort is open daily, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. Free. Ellewoutsdijk has a small yacht harbor by ‘Het Zuidgors’, a nature area outside the dike.
