Tholen & Sint Philipsland
The island of Tholen, dotted with picturesque villages, is a very special place. More than forty kilometres of sea walls protect the countryside against the onslaught of the sea. The many wildflower dikes and the narrow polder paths that lead you past charming fields of flowers make this area a very attractive destination for cyclists, skaters, and walkers. The countryside has been affected by man and has been culitivated. The south of the island, especially, was subjected to 'the shovel' following the disastrous flood of 1953. read on
Towns and villages
Aquatic sports, little beaches
Sun, wind and water for a fantastic water sports holiday: the perfect ingredients! Tholen and Zuid-Beveland have them all in abundance! The water here is a paradise for sailing enthusiasts, swimmers, divers, surfers and anglers. There is even room for the ‘speed freaks’ among us such as the wake-boarders and the water-, slalom-, and jet-skiers! Fresh and salt water, big lakes, estuaries and quiet creeks a-plenty!

Sun-lover? You’ve come to the right place. Zeeland averages 140 sunshine hours more per year than the rest of the Netherlands! Love the sun and flowers? Tholen in the summer is the place to be! From May to October, the flower fields undergo a complete transformation.
