Sun-lover? You’ve come to the right place --- Zeeland averages 140 sunshine hours more per year than the rest of the Netherlands! Love the sun and flowers? Zuid-Beveland, the land between the Ooster- and Westerschelde, is an exquisite region of dikes, nature reserves and quiet villages. Much of Zuid-Beveland has been designated a national landscape for the south-west Netherlands. Leave the car behind! Hop on a bike or set out on foot and enjoy nature at its very best!

This is only a selection of the bike routes available. The VVV office has many more routes and maps available and can provide information on nearby leisure activities.

Biking along the Blossom Route

Take, for example, the 52.4 km long Blossom Route --- the ‘Bloesemroute’. In the spring, the orchards are at their loveliest --- the normally so green countryside is covered by a blanket of pink and white blossoms! In the summer, the orchards are at their tastiest! On the farm

There are three Farmland routes --- the ‘Boerenlandroutes’ ---24 km or longer. Along them, you’ll find several leisure farms. These routes give you the chance to really get to know the Zak van Zuid-Beveland and her regional products.

On foot...

Want to get to know a region well? Set out on foot! The huge variety of landscapes makes Zuid-Beveland and Tholen a hiker’s paradise! So many hiking routes to choose from and all lead you to unique, pretty little places. Of course, most of the routes are available through the VVV tourist information offices. Here is a sample of what’s on offer:

The Harrier path

The Kiekendiefpad is the first route in Zeeland to have been signposted according to the FIKS system. Nature, cultural history and how participants experience the countryside were aspects that received special attention when developing the route. It is a hiking trail of a good 75 km, through farmland, over inner dikes and along quiet country roads. It runs from De Piet to the Goese Sas, round the villages of Oud-Sabbinge, Wolphaartsdijk and Wilhelminadorp, through the Ooster- and Westerschenge creek area, with a detour to the historic center of Goes. More than a third of the network has been opened up specifically to hikers.

Do you enjoy ancient towns with a rich past? Wander around the town center of the old Hanseatic town of Goes or through the little town of Tholen with its unique medieval network of streets.

It is also possible to take a walk with a VVV guide through, among others, Goes, Tholen, Yerseke or Wemeldinge, and surroundings .

On foot or by bike

In the past, there were a good 100 places in Zeeland where you had to cross the water by ferry. Nowadays, the Delta dams, bridges and tunnels make getting around a lot easier. Still, those little ferries had their own unique charm. That’s why a number of the ferry boats have been put back into service for the summer.
