Over deze locatie

Also known as 'House Vermuyden'. 17th century farmhouse of the longhouse type, with monumental gate. This cozy farmhouse is nowadays exempt as a holiday home. You can stay there with 4 people in a beautiful and peaceful location. It is suspected that the farm was built for Bartholemeus Vermuyden and his wife Catharina Ketting.

Both families had a high function on the island of Tholen to these two families the house owes its double name. Before the current farmhouse was built, there was already a farmhouse that was probably used as a country house.

Probably the house used to be surrounded by a moat which can be seen at the large white gate at the beginning of the terrain. The farmhouse is also much higher and larger than other farmhouses from that time. Normally wooden planks were used to build a farm. This barn is built of stone and the beams inside are thicker than usual. So everything indicated that the inhabitants of that time had a higher status than the normal inhabitants of Tholen.
