Regional produce

Zeeland’s most famous regional produce, mussels and oysters, have a salty taste. And so is most of Zeeland’s produce. Shellfish such as cockles, periwinkles and razor clams, the Eastern Scheldt lobster and various types of seaweed. But Saeftingher lamb, for example, is also salty, or rather ‘pre salé’. This means that the meat naturally acquires a salty, tangy taste as a result of grazing outside the dikes.
