About this location

The Poelbos is a so-called multifunctional forest with walking paths, amphibian pools, playgrounds and facilities such as picnic tables and benches. It is located not far from the A-58 in the polder between Goes and Heinkenszand.

The Poelbos is a land consolidation forest with relatively young upright forest, thickets and bushes. In the lower parts are alder and willow, on the somewhat higher plots are poplars, ash, oak and beech. The thicket includes sled and hawthorn, hazel, elder and dog rose. In the undergrowth are nettle, fireweed and field thistle.

The usual birds breed in the forest such as song thrush, blackbird, wood pigeon, tit, buzzard, great spotted and green woodpecker. Remarkably numerous are garden warbler, black headed and chiffchaff. Summer turtle, cuckoo and long-eared owl also occur.
